This Privacy and Data Processing Notice provides information about the processing of personal data in connection with the use of the Progtag website and community platform.
Progtag considers the protection of users’ personal data important and aims to ensure that data processing is transparent, secure and compliant with applicable laws.
By using Progtag, the user acknowledges the provisions of this notice.
1. Data controller
The data controller of the website is Progtag.
The current identification and contact details of the data controller are available in the Imprint section.

2. Purpose of this notice
The purpose of this notice is to explain:
- what personal data Progtag may process;
- for what purposes the data is processed;
- what the legal basis of processing is;
- how long the data is stored;
- who may access the data;
- what rights users have;
- how data protection requests or complaints can be submitted.
3. Categories of personal data processed
During the operation of Progtag, the following categories of personal data may be processed.
3.1. Registration and account data
When creating and using a user account, Progtag may process, among others:
- username;
- display name;
- email address;
- password in technically protected, encrypted form;
- profile picture or avatar;
- other profile-related data voluntarily provided by the user;
- date and time of registration;
- date and time of last login;
- user identifiers.
The user is responsible for ensuring that the data provided in their profile is accurate and does not infringe the rights of others.
3.2. Use of Facebook Login
Progtag may provide the option to use Facebook Login.
When Facebook Login is used, Progtag may request from the Meta/Facebook system only the data necessary for account creation and identification, in particular:
- public profile information;
- Facebook user ID;
- name;
- profile picture;
- email address, if available in the Facebook account and permitted by the user.
The purpose of Facebook Login is to allow the user to register and log in to the Progtag community platform more easily.
Progtag does not request access to the user’s Facebook posts, friend list, private messages or any other data that is not necessary for login.
3.3. Community content and activity
When using the community features of Progtag, the following may be processed, for example:
- posts;
- comments;
- reactions;
- shares;
- uploaded images, videos or files;
- profile updates;
- activities related to groups, pages or community features;
- user content displayed publicly or to a limited audience;
- information related to moderation.
The user acknowledges that content posted on community areas may become visible to other users, depending on the current settings and features of the platform.
3.4. Private messages and communication
If Progtag provides private messaging or direct communication features, the system may technically process the content, recipient, sender and timestamp of messages.
Private messages are generally not reviewed in advance by Progtag, but in the event of abuse, reports, suspected legal violations or security reasons, Progtag may take action to enforce the platform rules.
3.5. Contact and customer support
If the user contacts Progtag, Progtag may process:
- the user’s name;
- email address;
- message content;
- related information necessary for handling the case;
- date and time of the report or request.
These data are processed by Progtag for the purpose of responding to inquiries, handling complaints, fixing errors or providing user support.
3.6. Technical and log data
During the operation of the website, the system may automatically process technical data, such as:
- IP address;
- browser type;
- device type;
- operating system;
- date and time of visit;
- data relating to viewed pages;
- error reports;
- security logs;
- login and system usage data.
These data are necessary for the secure operation of the website, troubleshooting, prevention of abuse and technical maintenance.

Progtag may use cookies and similar technologies for the operation of the website, maintaining logged-in status, remembering user preferences, security purposes and, where applicable, statistical or convenience features.
Strictly necessary cookies are required for the functioning of the website.
Cookies or similar technologies that are not strictly necessary are used only where user consent is required and such consent has been provided.
4. Purposes of data processing
Progtag may process personal data for, among others, the following purposes:
- creating and operating user accounts;
- providing login functionality;
- operating Facebook Login;
- providing community features;
- displaying profiles, posts, comments and other content;
- enabling connections and interactions between users;
- enabling uploads of files and media;
- moderation and enforcement of community rules;
- preventing abuse, spam, fraud and legal violations;
- investigating security incidents;
- technical operation and troubleshooting;
- responding to user inquiries;
- complying with legal obligations;
- developing and maintaining the platform.
5. Legal bases of processing
Progtag processes personal data on the legal basis appropriate to the specific purpose of processing.
5.1. Performance of a contract
Registration, login, operation of the user account and provision of community features may require data processing that is necessary for providing Progtag services.
5.2. Legitimate interest
Progtag may process data on the basis of legitimate interest, for example for:
- secure operation of the website;
- prevention of abuse;
- protection against spam and fraud;
- moderation;
- troubleshooting;
- establishing, exercising or defending legal claims;
- maintaining the safety of the community.
When processing data on the basis of legitimate interest, Progtag aims to ensure that users’ rights and freedoms are not disproportionately affected.
5.3. Consent
Certain processing activities may be based on the user’s consent, for example:
- use of non-essential cookies;
- providing optional profile data;
- newsletter or marketing communication, if such feature is available;
- use of certain external services where consent is required.
Consent may be withdrawn at any time, but withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.
5.4. Compliance with legal obligations
Progtag may also process certain data based on legal obligations, for example in connection with official requests, legal requirements or documentation obligations.
6. Data retention period
Progtag stores personal data only for as long as necessary for the relevant processing purpose, or for as long as required by law, legitimate interest or the enforcement of legal claims.
General retention principles:
- data related to the user account may be processed for as long as the account exists;
- content published by the user may remain available until deletion, account termination or moderation action;
- contact messages may be stored until the case is closed and, if necessary, for a reasonable time for evidentiary purposes;
- technical and security logs may be stored for a limited period;
- data related to legal claims may be stored until the end of the applicable limitation period;
- data required by law may be stored for the period specified by law.
In the event of account deletion, certain data may be deleted or anonymized, unless retention is justified by law, legitimate interest, security reasons or legal claims.
7. Access to personal data
Personal data may be accessed only by those who need access for the operation of Progtag, technical administration, user support, moderation, security investigation or compliance with legal obligations.
Progtag does not sell users’ personal data.
8. Data processors and external service providers
Progtag may use external service providers and data processors during its operation.
These may include, for example:
- hosting provider;
- domain and technical infrastructure provider;
- WordPress and related plugin systems;
- social login provider, such as Meta/Facebook;
- email delivery service provider;
- security, caching or analytics services;
- payment service provider, if paid features are introduced in the future.
Data processors may process personal data only to the extent necessary for the operation of Progtag and in accordance with applicable laws and contractual terms.
9. Meta/Facebook services
Progtag may use Facebook Login to simplify registration and login.
When Facebook Login is used, Meta’s own privacy rules may also apply.
Progtag uses the data received through Facebook Login only for creating and identifying the user account and providing login functionality.
Progtag does not automatically post to the user’s Facebook profile and does not use Facebook Login data for unsolicited advertising.
10. Publicly visible data
Progtag is a community platform, therefore certain user data and content may be visible to other users.
These may include, for example:
- display name;
- profile picture;
- profile information;
- public posts;
- comments;
- reactions;
- activities in groups, pages or community areas.
The user is responsible for what data and content they publish on the platform.
11. Files, images and media uploads
Progtag may allow the upload of images, videos, documents or other files.
Uploaded files may contain personal data, such as likeness, name, document details or other information.
The user must ensure that uploaded files are lawful and do not infringe the rights of other persons.
Progtag may remove files that violate the rules, are unlawful, dangerous or harmful.
12. Data security
Progtag aims to protect personal data through appropriate technical and organizational measures.
Such measures may include, for example:
- access restrictions;
- technical protection of passwords;
- security updates;
- permission management;
- hosting provider security solutions;
- anti-abuse and anti-spam measures;
- regular technical maintenance.
However, internet-based data transmission and online systems cannot be made completely risk-free. The user is responsible for keeping their own access details secure.
13. Data transfers to third countries
During the operation of Progtag, some external service providers may process or transfer data outside the European Economic Area, for example in the case of global technology services.
In such cases, the providers’ own privacy terms, contractual safeguards or other lawful data transfer mechanisms may apply.
Progtag aims to use only services that provide appropriate data protection safeguards.
14. Rights of data subjects
Under applicable data protection rules, the user has several rights.
14.1. Right of access
The user may request information on whether Progtag processes their personal data and, if so, what data is processed, for what purpose and on what legal basis.
14.2. Right to rectification
The user may request the correction of inaccurate personal data or the completion of incomplete data.
14.3. Right to erasure
The user may request the deletion of their personal data if the purpose of processing has ceased, the processing is unlawful, consent has been withdrawn, or another legal condition applies.
Deletion of certain data may be refused or delayed if retention is justified by law, legitimate interest, legal claims or security reasons.
14.4. Right to restriction of processing
The user may request restriction of processing, for example if they dispute the accuracy of the data, object to processing, or need the data for the establishment, exercise or defense of legal claims.
14.5. Right to data portability
The user may request that Progtag provide the personal data concerning them, which they have provided, in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format, where the legal conditions for this are met.
14.6. Right to object
The user may object to processing based on legitimate interest. In such a case, Progtag will examine whether there is a compelling legitimate reason that justifies continuing the processing.
14.7. Withdrawal of consent
Where processing is based on consent, the user may withdraw consent at any time.
Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.
15. Submitting data protection requests
The user may submit a data protection request through the Contact section or through the contact details provided in the Imprint.
Progtag will review the request within a reasonable time and respond in accordance with applicable laws.
To fulfill the request, it may be necessary to identify the requester, especially if the request relates to an account or personal data.
16. Account and data deletion
The user may request deletion of their account and personal data.
If Facebook Login was used, the user may also request deletion of the personal data associated with the account created through Facebook Login.
Deletion requests may be submitted through the Contact section or through the contact details provided in the Imprint.
After account deletion, certain data may be retained for a limited time for technical, security, legal or moderation reasons, if this is necessary and lawful.
17. Lodging a complaint
If the user believes that Progtag’s data processing violates their rights, they have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent data protection authority.

The current contact details of the authority are available on its official website.
The user also has the right to go to court if they believe that the processing of their personal data is unlawful.
18. Children’s data
Progtag is primarily a business, project-building and professional community platform and is not intended for children.
Progtag does not intend to collect personal data from children.
If Progtag becomes aware that a child’s personal data has been processed without a lawful basis, it will take the necessary steps to delete the data or restrict the relevant account.
19. Automated decision-making and profiling
Progtag generally does not use automated decision-making that would produce legal effects concerning the user or similarly significantly affect them.
The platform may use certain automated checks for technical or security purposes, for example to detect spam, abuse or unusual activity.
20. Changes to this notice
Progtag reserves the right to modify this Privacy and Data Processing Notice from time to time.
The modified notice becomes effective when published on the website, unless a different effective date is specified.
By continuing to use Progtag, the user acknowledges the current Privacy and Data Processing Notice.
